THESE ENCHANTED ISLES

Step into a world of myth, magic and musical enchantment as Market Harborough Orchestra opens its new season with three beautiful works inspired by the landscapes, stories and imagination of the British Isles.
We begin in the mysterious world of Irish folklore with Arnold Bax’s In the Faery Hills, a vivid orchestral journey into a landscape of ancient legends and supernatural wonder. From there, we enter the magical world of Howl’s Moving Castle, brought to life by Joe Hisaishi’s captivating music. Best known for its celebrated Studio Ghibli film adaptation, the story began as a novel by British author Diana Wynne Jones.
The concert concludes with Ralph Vaughan Williams’s glorious Fifth Symphony, one of the most serene and uplifting works in the English orchestral repertoire. With its sweeping melodies, moments of profound stillness and connections to John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress, it offers a moving conclusion to an evening celebrating the power of storytelling through music.
Join us for a concert filled with imagination, wonder and some truly unforgettable music.
